Central America

The Rio Dulce in GuatemalaOur church is making another Central America trip this weekend and I will not be attending.  Our pastor, his wife, son and their sons friend will be visiting Honduras for a couple of days to do some mission work.  They will then go and visit El Salvador for a couple of days and then go to Guatemala for the last few days.

Back in 2006 I got to go on this Central American Mission which I thought was amazing.  I loved all the culture and the scenery.  I did however catch some awful flu that made me ill for a couple of days.  When I went we did not go to El Salvador.  The church is making this stop to visit their daughter's in-laws.

While I was there we got to experience the area by encountering some river riding along the Rio Dulce in Guatemala.  We also visited some villages with many people that live poorly.  We hosted a three night church revival which got the attention of many believers and some non-believers.  It caused a couple of issues with the locals but it wasn't that bad.

We also saw a baptism that took place in probably one of the coolest looking rivers in Honduras.  We drove into the jungle for a while and pulled over and hiked down into a stream and witnessed the baptism.

To hear how the people enjoyed our visit is great.  I recall the children’s expressions as the church bought a bunch of pizzas and allowed all the children in one village to come and eat.  It flew by very quickly.

I cant say I will go to Central America again soon but I know it is something I plan to do again in my lifetime.  I just hope that with the way things are in the United States that it doesn't make it harder to visit these other countries and work with them.

Thanks for reading!
