If you are ever deployed to another country or location it helps to know exactly who you might know or have as a resource.
While I was in Okinawa, I didn’t think anyone was here with me other than my friends, until one day my mom mentioned that my uncle Rudy and aunt Blanca were there also. I did some research and was able to get a hold of them and it really paid off but I only wish I had known sooner. I had a place to hang out and people to hang out with that wouldn’t get me into trouble. My aunt Blanca is in the Navy as had been stationed in Okinawa for quite a long time. She invited me to one of these dinner balls that they had it was great. I got to see some well respected individuals shake their thing to some good music.
So, the moral of this post is…no matter where you go always make sure you know if you have any family there. It helps because they will know the area better than you if you are just arriving.
Thanks for reading.
